WW Saturday Ride to Bishop Monkton and Boroughbridge, 1 June 2024, 40 miles.

Bob L had messaged shortly before the start to say he had a stomach upset so wouldn’t be joining us, which meant Mark and I were the only ones riding. How wrong could I be, as when I arrived a blast from the past was waiting in the Shambles. The tall Marvel from Leeds, Glyn, had ridden across. He had ridden over before and then ridden straight back, but not today, he was up for some punishment. 😊
There was a northerly wind to contend with for our outward leg to Bishop Monkton, passing Knaresborough, Farnham and Copgrove. Once we turned out of the wind the job got easier. Passing through Roecliffe we past a sign saying Historic Church, Open.
I said to Mark, I thought all churches were historic, when did Persimmon last build one.
Our stop was at cafe Plenty where cake, bacon and black pudding sandwich and poached eggs on dry toast accompanied our coffees. Special thanks to Glyn who paid for our goodies as a belated February birthday.
Leaving BB we headed to Aldboro again passing another road side sign, Beware Giant Hogweed, thankfully the Triffid was having a rest from attacking humans.
With the wind giving welcome support we rode through the Dunsforths, Great Ouseburn to Thorpe Underwood.
Again another road side warning, this time at Great Ouseburn, Beware pedestrians! 🚶‍♀️🚶🚶‍♂️
We headed to Cattal and onto Rudgate, I suggested we avoided doing a Nick somersault. 🚴‍♀️ 💥 Arriving at Walton we went our separate ways home.
Not before issuing medicinal jelly babies.
Big well done to Glyn who got 60 miles in for the day.

Thanks guys enjoyed the ride and we enjoyed some fine weather.
