Tuesday 21st May – Easingwold – 56miles

It was raining at 07:30 but was dry by the time Pete C, Pete D, Neil P, Bob L, Steve P and me (Keith) met for our 09:15 departure. We passed Graeme as we went through Thorpe Arch so he joined us for the day.

Steve, our usual ride leader, is still not fit so I stepped in to plan a route to Easingwold. For a change, we set off towards Wighill and Healaugh before turning towards Rufforth and Hessay. Bob is still recuperating so he turned back at the railway crossing. The rest of us had a short spell on the A59 before looping round Poppleton. After a short ride on a cycle path, we went through Skelton and then two pretty villages, Sutton-On-Forest and Stillington. As has become the norm, we had coffee and cake at Tee Hee in Easingwold before heading back on the usual route through Alne and Whixley.

It stayed dry which was better than we expected and the route was sufficiently different to make it interesting. However, there was a bit more traffic than normal on a couple of roads so perhaps not one to be repeated too often.
