Five riders arrived at The Shambles at 9am, raring to go …. well four were but I wasn’t too sure. So, Steve B., Bob J., Bob L., Gavin and yours truly set off with Easingwold the destination, via Boroughbridge. The 168 was quiet and Boroughbridge came on us pretty quickly. Over the bridge, turning right and right again to Thornton Bridge with Steve and Bob J., setting a good pace. On approaching Helperby/Brafferton Bob J. took us on a diversion down a dirt track to a footbridge which went over the River Swale which would have led to Milby just to show us another route to choose on a future ride. We then returned back to the main road and on to Easingwold which was busy due to it being market day. After refreshments, it was decided to return back to base via Aldwark Bridge (which is getting even more rickety), Whixley and Cattel where Bob J. bade us farewell. Steve and Gavin left at Thorp Arch, leaving Bob L and me commenting on a good ride of about 50/55 miles.
