Boston Spa–Selby, Tuesday 7th February 2023, 50-60 miles

The weather was good so we had a good turn-out. Nine riders (Frank, John B, Alec, Pete C, Pete D, Steve B, Gavin, Bob L and me (Keith)) headed South with the intention of splitting into two groups. We rode through Aberford and Micklefield before turning East to go through Ledsham but were broadly still in one group albeit spread out as we arrived at the junction to turn for Ledsham. I’m not sure what happened after that but Pete D, Gavin and I ended up riding together with the rest forming a second group. The road past Fairburn Ings is always good, especially on a sunny day so it was particularly pleasant. At Fairburn, we decided to head straight for Hillam and Selby skipping the loop through Birkin. In fact, the second group opted for the Birkin loop so they arrived at The Hub in Selby just as we were leaving. ). We decided to take a different route to normal so took the road out to Barlby before hitting the Planets cycle path to Naburn. The rest was on the familiar route through Bolton Percy and Tadcaster to Boston Spa. Gavin was on his electric bike and put in a good stint to hold a decent pace behind Pete and me.

The second group took the more usual route up Lordship Lane to Cawood then went up to Cawood and Naburn stooping for another coffee at Copmanthorpe before coming back through Healaugh and Wighill.

The weather was great for the time of year making for another good morning out on bikes!
