Wetherby – Husthwaite, Sunday 6th November 2022, 55miles

This week the ride was listed as Coxwold but we decided that the cafe there was a bad bet and we headed for Easingwold. The four out were Nick, Bob, Geoff and Graham. A fairly chill start meant a reasonable pace was needed to warm up and we took a direct route to Easingwold. No sitting outside the Fika Room today. A nice warm table in the window. Bob ordered a bacon and egg sandwich ; why didn’t I? Just a coffee then and an important discussion about the 80% risk of heavy rain at 2.00pm. None of us fancied taking the risk and a route through Husthwaite, Carlton Husthwaite and Hutton Sessay was devised to take us back to Boroughbridge. I was now dreaming of a bacon sandwich but Bob and Geoff had beer on their minds and so no stopping. The four of us headed for Minskip and Knaresborough. At Knaresborough Bob disappeared and Geoff said cheers before heading to his afternoon of Northern Soul music in the pub. Hope it was good. At this point, the light rain forced me to put on my rain jacket. Was the forecast going to be correct ? Happily, no. Nick headed off towards Tockwith and I added a couple of miles to get me up to 55 for the day.
