With a prompt start from the Shambles we inevitably set off for my favourite route out of Wetherby along the NCN 665.
We were heading for the Sherburn Aero Club via Stutton, Church Fenton and Ryther. At Cawood, we turned right at the traffic lights and we were soon on our way for our normal Saturday social and chit-chat.
Again we chose a day when the Aero Club were having an event. It was very busy but we found a good table outside. The only issue was the clubhouse had restricted food supply i.e. we all had toasted tea cakes!!! However, we all enjoyed our company and sunshine.
The journey back was interesting as we headed for Aberford. We knew the Leeds Festival was having an impact on the roads so going through barriers to reach Bramham and the increased traffic heading for the car parks on Paradise Way we all eventually went our different ways getting home in plenty of time for the afternoon’s barbecue! Bob and Geof even had time for a stop in Wetherby for a pint or two .
