Wetherby – Askham Richard, Saturday 16th July 2022, 42 miles

Report by Pete Cartledge (I can’t remember if anyone volunteered to do the report, so here goes).

Bob L., Steve B., Pete D., Mark, Nick and myself met at The Shambles and we were then joined by a new prospective member, Gavin, who had seen our rides on the runs calendar. Gavin is no chicken (!) but very fit even though older than all of us. Steve B led us out of Wetherby towards Wighill and then the lead changed several times. On through Catterton, Bilbrough, Acaster Selby, Acaster Malbis and a circular route for drinks at Askham Richard cafe. We were slightly longer at the cafe than anticipated, so Bob left us early, after drink and food, for family reasons. Suitably refreshed, the posse went on through Rufforth, and Tockwith to Rudgate where Nick bade us farewell. On to Walton to the Thorp Arch junction where we stopped to go our different ways: Mark and I to Boston Spa and Steve B, Pete D and Gavin to Wetherby. About 42 miles. Gavin said he enjoyed our company (we are not a miserable lot!) and will join us again soon.
