Wetherby – Bishop Monkton, Saturday 9th July 2022, 45 miles

Riders: Stephen Booker, Glyn Ferguson, Pete Cartledge, Robert Lunt, Phil Webb and myself Alec Marley

With a prompt start of 9:00am from the Shambles we headed north along the normal route to Knaresborough in beautiful sunshine with a gentle headwind to keep us cool. It was great to enter the quieter roads as the social chatter amongst the riders increased. The plan was to head for Bishop Monkton via Burton Leanord but too much chatter from Pete distracted me and we were on a different route.

Passing through Bishop Monkton we then headed for Boroughbridge via Roecliffe to our obligatory cafe stop. It seems that sausage rolls was on our minds so the Plenty Cafe was chosen … and we managed o get a table outside for all of us to get around!!! All subjects seemed to be discussed especially around reminiscing old rides that a longer stay than expected could have been predicted. So having decided we better leave our seats in the sunshine we headed home via Lower Dunsforth and Great Ouseburn.

We all agreed to head for Boston Spa we’re we all said our goodbyes with Phil and me heading home via Wattlesyke, Steve, Glyn and Rob via Bramham and Pete being led home! Great weather, great company, thanks to all!
