Wetherby to Sherburn Aero Club, Saturday 4th June 2022, 40 miles

Alec had posted the plan the day before and having never been to the Aero Club I was keen to go. So on Saturday morning six of us arrived at the Shambles in Wetherby to join Alec hoping not to suffer from cancelled flights.
The budding pilots were Mark, Bob L, Pete C, Alec of course, (not his real name), Glyn, Fred and myself Steve B.
On the dot of 9.00am we set off taking Alec’s favourite cycle path towards Walton and onto the BS Tadcaster road.
A short hop towards Taddy and then a right onto Rudgate from where we weaved our way to Stutton and onto the London road where we banked left and this propelled us towards Ulleskelf and Cawood. The weather was fine and the wind proved no real issue with the views from the cockpit being VG.
At Cawood we turned towards Sherburn and with our Squadron Leader at the head we flew on before turning left for the Aero Club and a smooth landing. This despite a gathering of petrol heads showing off how loud their sports cars could be at a gathering of them at the new Motorvation complex.
Our arrival was greeted by a fly pass of an old Biplane, it appears we didn’t qualify for anything more exotic.
The club was clean and friendly busy with visitors. Coffees were accompanied with bacon sandwiches as well as brownies of which the Slutty brownie seemed a favourite.
Before leaving we had one last display from our Biplane before taking a westerly heading towards Sherburn and then Lotherton and Aberford. At the final gathering above Bramham we said our goodbyes as the group separated heading for their personal hangers. Good company, an enjoyable ride and thanks to Alec.
