Wetherby – Cycle Heaven, Saturday 21st May 2022, 44 miles

This week’s Saturday ride was to York via Tockwith, Long Marston, Rufforth, Askham Richard and Askham Bryan. Those out were Pete Dack, Pete Cartledge, Bob Lunt, Glyn, Phil and myself, Graham. We went into York down Moor Lane and then along Tadcaster Road and past the Knavesmire. There was a lot going on in preparation for racing in the afternoon. We had a tailwind helping us and we arrived at Cycle Heaven in good time at about 10.30. There was no rush to leave and bacon baps were the most popular choice from the new menu. However in my opinion if you want to improve your bacon sandwich just improve the quality of your bacon and be generous.

The return leg was a little more sedate and took us through Bishopthorpe, Cop, Colton and Bilbrough. Then it was the normal roads through to Walton. At this point, only I headed on to Wetherby while the rest turned for Boston. Some were heading for home while a few were looking to add a few more miles. I got home at about 12.35. A very pleasant morning.
