Frank, Nick, Steve P and myself (Bill) met at 9:00 for the Sunday ride to Kirby Moorside and set off at 9:10. Our first stop came at Hunsingore to mend a puncture to Frank’s rear wheel which we believe was caused by hitting a pothole on the bridge over the M1. We were back on our way after about 15 mins and headed out through Aldwark and Tollerton to our scheduled stop at Huby for coffee and light sustenance. At the stop we were delighted to hear that Steve had decided to stay out for the day. We new the wind would be against us on the way home and his contribution on the front would be very much appreciated.
With a following wind good progress was made via Stillington, Gilling and Nunnington, reaching Kirby Moorside just before 1:00 where we had an enjoyable lunch at the Corner Cafe.
Although the wind conditions were not as bad as we had anticipated on the home run, Steve and Nick put in some long turns on the front, taking us back via Nunnington, Hovingham and Easingwold where we stopped briefly for refreshments at the Co-op shop.
The roads seemed to be unusually quite, probably because most of the nation were indoors watching the footy and reached Tockwith at about 4:40. Making our goodbyes we were all in agreement that it had been a fantastic day out.
