WW Saturday Ride to Sherburn in Elmet, 40 miles, 7 May 2022.

This delay in issuing might get me a detention.

Four of us met at the Shambles for a 9.00am start, they were Glyn, Bob L, Pete C and myself Steve B.
With the breeze from the north I decided to take advantage and ride to Sherburn. We rolled out on the Walton road to Wighill and onto Copmanthorpe where we turned for Bishopthorpe and took the old railway line over the river. At this point Pete C got on the front as we headed south and he had us in full TT mode. On through Stillingfleet and Cawood towards Sherburn, but despite attempting to assist on the front there was no holding him back.
I did feel we were going the wrong way as we passed a number of large groups all going the other way but we all grunted morning and waved happily.
Arriving at Penny’s cafe we settled in to enjoy our coffees, hot chocolate ( very predictable Pete), fruit scone and sandwiches. Having done the large proportion of the mileage on the outward section it meant we had only about an hour’s ride back.
Our route back took us to Lotherton, Aberford and across the motorway to Bramham. Bob and Pete peeled off for BS and I accompanied Glyn on the Thorner road towards Leeds before turning on Jewitt lane for home. Thanks guys for an enjoyable morning and back on time.
