WW Saturday Ride to Easingwold, 50 miles, 30 April 2022.

As the Thursday ride had gone to Allerthorpe and Sunday was to Pocklington, I decided a trip in another direction was required. Six of us met up at the Shambles for a 9.00am start.
Simon had planned to ride but gave back word at the last minute, nothing I said I hope Simon, however as if by magic who should turn up at the last minute was Frank🚴‍♀️ Raring to go, although not expected.
That meant Phil W, Glyn, Pete C, myself Steve B and a welcome guest, Keith H, a cycling friend of Phil’s joined us.
At the cafe stop I did suggest to him that we had a spare membership place available and he shouldn’t be put off by the extortionate Annual subscription of £13. 😩 , hurry up and retire Keith.
I digress we rolled out towards Knaresborough and over the Farnham Alps to Minskip, Boroughbridge.
Heading to Thornton Bridge and Brafferton, we passed through Raskelf before arriving at Easingwold and the Fika Room. There had been no hanging about on the way as we all enjoyed the sunshine.
Tea, coffees, poached eggs on toast, scones and fruity flap jack barely touched the sides. The service was good as was the food although we had to eat in as many others had the same desire to sample their wares while occupying the outside tables.
It seemed a shame to leave but off we went towards Alne and the Aldwark Bridge with Keith and Phil taking the mantle of driving the peloton.
As Glyn lived in Leeds and Frank and Pete in Boston Spa we all took the Rudgate route to Walton where they peeled off around 1pm. 😀
As I was in no rush and the others weren’t either we headed through Bramham onto the Thorner road to escort Glyn part of the way before leaving him as the three of us went down Jewitt Lane to Collingham where Keith peeled off leaving Phil and I to ride the remaining couple of miles home via Linton. Thanks guys thoroughly enjoyed the ride and company.
