Wetherby – Ripon, Sunday 30th January 2022, 40 miles

A break in the weather produced a gorgeous sunny, but cold, morning, bereft of any wind, with surprisingly few riders.

Just five riders – Nick, Graham, Frank, Simon and Fred – set off for Ripon, with everyone (particularly Nick) wondering just when Fred would be turning back.

For the first time in anyone’s memory, the same five riders arrived at Oliver’s Pantry and Nick stood by his promise to buy Fred’s coffee (actually hot chocolate) and the opportunity couldn’t be missed to record this for posterity!

We all waited for a while after finishing drinks and food, to allow Geoff M to arrive, whereupon a return journey via Boro’, Dunsforth and Whixley got us to Tockwith Crossroads where Frank went straight on, Nick and Simon going back together leaving Graham and Fred to return to Wetherby.

All in all, a very pleasant Sunday ride, completed before the wind got up and the rain arrived.
