Wetherby – Bolton Bridge, Thursday 9th December 2021, 59 miles

The Thursday ride started with me arriving late but Nick, Mike Graham and Mike Bosomworth were ready and so we quickly headed off towards Sicklinghall and the Leeds Harrogate road where we were to pick up Dennis. Dennis was on time and had brought Ian with him. Now the route was down to Harewood Bridge, right turn towards Pool and then up Creskeld Lane and into Bramhope. Bramhope was to be the morning coffee stop and the Bramhope Deli provided some decent coffee and good cakes. The sun should have been out according to the weather forecast but it was a little shy in making an appearance. We took the road through Bramhope village and towards the Chevin. The plan now was to go over the Cow and Calf and into Ilkley.

As we were passing through Ilkley Ian had a phone call and was summoned home to help with some building work and so we were down to five. We passed through Addingham and down to the cafe at Bolton Bridge which was fairly quiet and there was no problem getting a table. We had a decent stop before we headed for home via Beamsley towards Ilkley. The road was quite wet and unfortunately while passing through a section of flooded road I managed to get yet another puncture. It didn’t take too long to mend however and we then carried on along the normal back roads towards Wetherby. We were pushing it now to make it back into Wetherby for 3.30 but the sun had at last made a very welcome appearance. I think that we all made home in daylight, just!
