Boston Spa – Easingwold, Tuesday 23rd November 2021, 58 miles

A very fair, dry late November morning….and 5 wheelers rolled up to meet outside Boston Spa Church. These were Nick, Alec, Pete C, Mark and Steve P. In Frank’s absence Nick was ride’s Captain for the day, and the destination was Easingwold.

The group headed north through Walton, Cattal and Whixley, and then through both Little and Great Ouseburn. Just before Alne Nick added an interesting loop in before Easingwold.

We headed north east through Huby, Stillington and Starsby before coming back westerly through Brandsby and then to Crake. At this point the group successfully sent Alec the wrong way down Crayke Lane, only for him to ascend back up to Crake Castle. This was seen by everyone else as good character building for Alec (😉).
The Wheelers took a short rest at this point where Nick interestingly spoke of the recent history of the castle. Currently the castle is for sale with a property valuation of £2.8m.

A nice descent and the group enjoyed lunch in Easingwold. Lively discussion took place, including one members (anon) admission of potentially becoming an artist. Such is the wealth of qualities and talents within the club.

After lunch the sun, which had disappeared after mid-morning, greeted the crew and it remained for the journey home. After Alne the return route south was the same as the outward leg.

It was a very enjoyable and intelligently planned ride covering approximately 50 miles with the club returning home safely before dusk.
