Boston Spa – Hillam, Tuesday 16th November 2021, 41 miles

5 Wheelers met in Boston Spa on a reasonably mild and dry November morning. These were Frank, Nick, Bill, Phillip and Steve P. The destination was Hillam, which was the previous Sunday’s destination also.

The group travelled in a South Westerly direction through Tadcaster, Ulleskelf, Church Fenton towards the outskirts of Selby. It was here that the biggest excitement of the day occurred, a minor wrong turn. The group appeared to take a wrong turn at Thorpe Willoughby towards Brayton. A simple reverse turn back through Thorpe Willoughby over the A63, and the crew were back on course.

After Hambleton and Gateforth the Wheelers arrived in Hillam for an early-ish lunch at the Garden Centre. A special ‘£4 coffee and cake’ offer was eagerly snapped up by most and was very enjoyable. The cafe is open Friday to Tuesday only.

After lunch the route involved passing through Monk Fryston, South Milford and Aberford where Steve P departed. The rest of the group headed northwards home safely.
The ride was a, thankfully, uneventful and very pleasant winter ride
