Wetherby – Ripon, Saturday 13th November 2021, 44 miles

The Saturday ride this week saw 3 riders meeting in the market place for a steady ride to the Sun Parlour Cafe. There was very little wind and no rain and we were disappointed that there weren’t more Wheelers out.

Those on the ride were Mark, Graham and Fred who is slowly upping his mileage after being off his bike for a while. We took the normal route towards Easingwold but instead of turning towards Aldwark headed through Great Ouseburn and then Dunsforths and into Boroughbridge. We passed Simon en route and then saw Keith sitting outside of Plenty as we rode through the market place. At this point, Fred turned for home and then it was just Mark and me to take the road through Skelton and on to Ripon. The Spa Gardens are beautifully decorated with poppies in aid of Remembrance and we learned that the cafe is to close for the winter following the Sunday Remembrance Services. It reopens in February.

In my case, the obligatory bacon sandwich and black coffee were enjoyed and then we headed back for home with a slight tail wind. Mark and I made it back into Wetherby with time to spare and with 44.7 miles on the clock.
