The Saturdays ride saw Michael Brawley and Simon Nadin ride out to join Keith Robinson and me, Darren Shepherd, for a jaunt out to Beninbrough Hall. We picked up Sean Christie in Boston and headed out through Tadcaster, Askham Richard and Rufforth – all looking stunning in the best weather we have enjoyed to date. The cycle track around Poppleton was a delight, the now very busy A59 less so when waiting to cross. The break was at the cafe at Beninbrough – bacon butty (of course Sean), flapjack and scones (minus the ordered cream) boosted the riders. The back road around Beninbrough was heavily rutted but navigated succesfully. We clonked over Aldwark bridge and took the usual route south via Whixley, Cattal et al. Sean dropped off in Boston, Michael and Simon rode back to Bramham before repeating their journeys home. 49 miles Bramham to Bramham, significantly more when adding in the extra miles to Roundhay and Tockwith. The tan lines are seered in to my arms, perhaps sun cream may be in order next time!
