Wetherby – Beningbrough, 10th April 2021, 45 miles

Six riders met on a cold, sunny morning in Wetherby: Keith, Alec, Pete C, Sean, Darren and me, Mark. Mike Bo put in a guest appearance outside the fishmongers but he was just on his shopping trip. We headed out on time (almost) up the A168 and across through Tockwith to take a left towards Poppleton via a cunning foot railway crossing. We made use of the cycle/mixed use infrastructure to cross the Ouse and meander pleasantly across fields to rejoin the road by Overton and turned west towards Beningbrough Hall.

We made a coffee (or tea – other beverages are available) stop at the farm shop at Beningbrough which was understaffed but pleasant. Having run the usual gauntlet of exiting against the traffic through the village we crossed back over the Ure at Aldwark Bridge and the Nidd at Cattal (green light on arrival !) and wheeled down Rudgate and into Boston Spa and Bramham, where we finished.

A few flakes of snow greeted my arrival at home, prompting a certain smugness… 😁
